It seems that our habitual life is about to restart! More and more countries are weakening quarantine measures step by step. Cafes, parks, shopping centers have already been opened in a number of countries. And we have great news! Very soon art galleries and museums will open their door to visitors.
And after almost 3 months closed, The Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum will reopen on June 6. To protect its guests, the museum will take all the necessary measures recommended by the World Health Organization.
And one of the first exhibitions we recommend you to visit is the one with Alex Katz’s awesome paintings. For the first time in Spain, the museum will be presenting a retrospective on this prominent American painter, who is known as the key figure in the history of 20th century American art. Besides, he is a forerunner of such art movement as Pop Art.
The show will embody around 30 large-format oil paintings as well as various studies. It offers a survey of all of the artist’s habitual themes: his individual, double and group portraits together with his captivating flowers and gripping landscapes painted with bright colors and flat backgrounds.
The exhibition is co-curated by Guillermo Solana and Tomàs Llorens, the museum’s artistic director and emeritus artistic director, respectively.
To get ready for the exhibition, we suggest you read Alex Katz’s biography on prabook.com. You will learn a lot of interesting facts about this talented artist.
