Benedict Cumberbatch is one of the most successful actors of today. And no wonder, a person of such great talent and charisma will certainly break the hearts of millions of people. To date, he has played numerous major roles of both good and bad guys, proving that his talent has no limits. Here is a list of movies with Benedict Cumberbatch we recommend you to watch.

1. The Imitation Game (2014)

This American historical drama film is based on the 1983 biography Alan Turing: The Enigma by Andrew Hodges. Benedict Cumberbatch plays the role of British cryptanalyst Alan Turing, who decrypted German intelligence messages for the British government during the Second World War.

Cumberbatch and his brilliant play bring a certain level of haughtiness and nervousness to the role that to this day remains his most captivating performance.

2. 1917 (2019)

This is the latest Benedict Cumberbatch’s movie. And it’s amazing. Although the actor featured in 1917 for less than five minutes of the film’s runtime, we could not ignore it. Why? Coz Cumberbatch is a key component in the conflict, who narrates this military epic about World War I.

The film tells the story of two young British soldiers during the First World War who are ordered to deliver a message calling off an attack doomed to fail soon after the German retreat to the Hindenburg Line during Operation Alberich in 1917. And this message is particularly important to one of the soldiers, as his brother is taking part in the pending attack.

3. 12 Years A Slave (2013)

Another film with the participation of Benedict Cumberbatch, in which he appears only for a short time. But how important his role is, and how unimaginably the actor plays it. This movie is an adaptation of the 1853 slave memoir Twelve Years a Slave by Solomon Northup, a New York State-born free African-American man who was kidnapped in Washington, D.C. by two conmen in 1841 and sold into slavery. Northup was put to work on plantations in the state of Louisiana for 12 years before being released. Benedict Cumberbatch appears in the image of plantation owner William Ford, who takes a liking to Northup and gives him a violin and tries to help him.

4. Doctor Strange (2016)

Stephen Strange is a wealthy, acclaimed, and arrogant neurosurgeon. Who suits this role best than Benedict Cumberbatch? No one! (let’s be honest) One day Strange severely injures his hands in a car crash, leaving him unable to operate. But work is everything for him, that’s why he pursues experimental surgeries to heal his hands. But all for nothing. Strange learns about Kamar-Taj, where he is taken in by Mordo, a sorcerer under the Ancient One. The Ancient One demonstrates her power to Strange, revealing the astral plane and other dimensions such as the Mirror Dimension. She reluctantly agrees to train Strange. And the story of Dr. Strange begins.

5. Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)

Directed by J. J. Abrams, this is the sequel to the 2009 film Star Trek, as the second in a rebooted film series. The film features Chris Pine reprising his role as Captain James T. Kirk, with Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldana, and other actors and actresses. Benedict Cumberbatch is also credited in the film’s principal cast. In this movie, he plays a villain—Khan. His performance of the character is markedly different than that of Ricardo Montalban but the movie once again pits him up against Captain James T. Kirk (Chris Pine), Mr. Spock (Zachary Quinto) and the rest of the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise.
