Robert Pattinson is a British actor, model, producer and musician, known for portraying roles such as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
He was later cast in the Twilight movie series, which were based on the Twilight Novels by Stephanie Meyer. The series consisted of five films in which Pattinson portrayed the vampire Edward Cullen. The movies were highly successful and earned him fame and prominence worldwide.
Yesterday, on 13 May, Robert Pattinson celebrated his 34th birthday. So we want to share some interesting facts about him with you.
Pattinson got his acting start after getting discovered, ironically, in the theater. Seeing a show at the Barnes Theatre Company, he was noticed and then went on to star in Tess of the d’Urbervilles.
Pattinson began taking piano lessons at age four and classical guitar at five. He was in a band called Bad Girls, then played solo acoustic guitar gigs in pubs and bars around London, singing songs he had written himself.
Right before he got the job in Twilight, Pattinson was thinking about leaving acting altogether. While the role in Goblet of Fire was sweet, he was still having trouble finding work. His alternate plans included going back to school to become a political speechwriter or throwing his hat back into music.
Despite all he has earned from the Twilight saga, Pattinson admits not living lavishly. In an interview with People magazine, he said, “I do not spend any money. The only thing I really bought is my car, which costs $1,500 and keeps exploding.”
Robert Pattinson was often taken advantage of by his older siblings. “Up until I was 12 my sisters used to dress me up as a girl and introduce me as ‘Claudia’!” the actor told the BBC.
