March 17th marks the birthday of an American movie-star, Rob Lowe. You can’t say by his looks, but today Rob celebrates his 56th birthday. Surprisingly, yeah? We prepared a list of some other surprising facts about one of the most attractive Hollywood actors.
Rob was one of the nine original members of the 1980s “brat pack”, along with Judd Nelson, Demi Moore, Anthony Michael Hall, Sean Penn, Ally Sheedy, Molly Ringwald, Emilio Estevez, and Andrew McCarthy.
Lowe was the first male spokesperson for the 2000 Lee National Denim Day fundraiser, which raises millions of dollars for breast cancer research and education. He’s an active campaigner for cancer research because his mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother were all diagnosed with breast cancer.
Lowe was awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6667 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California on December 8, 2015.
Rob is only 7½ years younger than Bo Derek, who played his “mom” in Tommy Boy (1995).
Lowe is completely deaf in one ear as the result of an undiagnosed case of the mumps before he was a year old. (he later played a deaf character in Stephen King’s The Stand).
